OPAL - Outdoor Learning and Play

OPAL's mission is to ensure that every schoolchild has an amazing playtime every day with no exceptions. 

When you address a need that is so fundamental to children's physical and mental well-being as play, and you do it well, it is impossible to think of how this has not been done before. We are at the very beginning of our OPAL journey at Willowcroft and we cant wait to see how the playground feels for every child by the time we are finished. 

Our vision is that every child at Willowcroft has an amazing hour of high-quality play every day – with no exceptions. 

The school site has been set into zones that the children can enjoy every lunchtime. These are - 

Zone 1 – Quiet Area (reading, Lego, small world, chalk)

Zone 2 – Playground (tyres, scooters, guttering, loose parts)

Zone 3 – Cage (football in the winter and wheels during summer)

Zone 4 at 12 - Adventure Playground ONLY (music)

Zone 5A – Field when in use (Balls sports in summer and winter weather depending)

Zone 5B – Den building / Adventure trail  / Sensory Garden (dens, sand, mud kitchen)

We are always on the hunt for extra items for our zones and we are very thankful for the items our parents have contributed. If you  think you have anything at home to help us enhance lunchtimes, please get in touch as we would be happy to find it a new home at Willowcroft.
