Our 4 Rs
In 2018, the staff and children worked together to decide on the qualities they thought were most important to develop a 'growth mindset' and be a confident learner. These qualities are applicable to everyone in the school, children and adults alike. Our talented Teaching Assistant, Mr Sam Collins, then worked with the children to design a character for each of the qualities. His art work is displayed in the school reception area.
Mr Doman coined the term 'Amethyst Learning.' This was because we want children to push themselves from the safe zone of learning (often called the blue zone) without entering the scary zone which can make children -and adults- feel unsafe (often called the red zone.) The optimal zone for learning is between the red and the blue. This is the purple zone- hence Amethyst Learning.
