n Term 2 the Reception children will focus on celebrations where we will look at different celebrations from around the world.  We will cover Guy Fawkes, Diwali, Remembrance Day and Christmas. The children will make chocolate sparklers, clay Diya lamps and get to try Diwali celebration food.

The children will also be busy learning their songs for the nativity. We will write and post letters to Father Christmas as well creating lots of fabulous Christmas crafts.

If you have any celebrations that are important to you please let us know and we can include these in our planning.

PE

Frogs P.E sessions will be on a Monday. They will be learning about Body Management and we will be focusing on developing their fine and gross motor skills.  

Forest School

No forest school this term.

Maths

In Maths this term we will continue to look at circles and triangles in the environment. The children will begin to learn about basic measurements and patterns and begin to learn to subitise, represent, find one more, one less and the composition of 4, 5, and 6.  Finishing off the term with looking at shapes with 4 sides.

We start off slowly to make sure that children have a strong understanding of these numbers. Children can often count beyond but they do not have an understanding of what they are counting.
