Today, Reception to Year 6 were offered bagels as we launched the Magic Breakfast scheme. This is a Government initiative to encourage all children to start the day with a healthy breakfast and it is funded by the sugar tax.
Most children wanted to sample the bagels and they went down very well. So well in fact, that we had to cook many more than we anticipated which meant that ‘breakfast’ continued well into learning time.
We do want to continue the scheme but are mindful that learning is not disrupted so, from tomorrow, the arrangements will be as follows-
We do not anticipate that every child will eat breakfast every day. The scheme is targeted at children who are not eating breakfast at home or for those times when parents and carers are running late and do not have time to feed the children without being late for school.
