Welcome to Kingfishers
Welcome to Kingfishers class, this page will show you what a fantastic time we are having in Year 5/6.
In Kingfishers class we are taught by Miss Hague and we have the lovely Miss Paynter as our Teaching Assistant. We are also very fortunate to have Mr Aspinall too, who will be working one to one with the children.
This term we are continuing with focusing on DRAGONS! Year 5/6 will get the chance to look at this topic through art, literacy, science, geography and PE!
This term we are extremely busy!! We will be building our own moon buggies, enjoying drama workshops at Cornerstone, performing the end of year show at Cornerstone, taking part in Sports Day, setting off to Sulgrave Manor, enjoying time in Legoland AND we, in Kingfishers, have an extra special project underway...
Just before Term 5 ended we began looking at averages and statistics. We will continuing with this and also looking at algebra and preparing for next year!
We will be looking at all sorts of non-fiction and fiction texts this term! Focusing on instructions and story-telling, and we will be creating instructions on how to train a dragon and descriptions about our own dragons that we will create ourselves!
My Maths - Each Friday the children will be asked to log on to their My Maths page and have a go at the weekly ready for the Monday. A letter has been sent home already with your child's login and password. If your child does not have access to a computer they will be given a worksheet instead, that should also be completed for the Monday.
Spellings - Spellings will be issued on a Wednesday and should always be returned by the following Tuesday.
Reading Records - Every Friday Reading Records will be collected in and checked that children are reading regularly and are recording what they are reading.
We have Forest School in Term 6, on Tuesdays! So make sure your children have the correct Forest School clothing ready to get messy!
We have swimming in Term 6 too! This will take place on Thursdays, so please ensure that your child has their correct kit.
If you have any worries or concerns please do not hesitate to see Miss Hague before or after school.
